Getting Rid of Corns - For Good!By Dr. Gary Prant, D.P.M. One of the first questions everyone asks is: "What is the recovery?" Good question! If you mean how long will it be until you walk - then there is no recovery! You can walk immediately and will continue to do so. After the toe wakes up. (usually between 8 and 20 hours), it will be "numbish" and shouldn't hurt. By the time the toe fully wakes up there is usually very little pain as long as you don't wear too tight shoes or overdo it. Most people are in regular shoes within a few weeks. Most women can get in heels in two to three months. If you are prone to swelling or have a complication such as an infection, it may be longer before you get in regular shoes. Insurance Coverage Almost all of the insurance plans and managed care programs we participate in will cover removal of bone spurs. Some plans do not cover the surgical supplies or use of the fluoroscan machine. Our insurance person will check your coverage and review the details with you.
